Mauritius Tourism is offering an attractive premium travel visa for a year to non-citizens. In this time of COVID crises, the nature of work for most of us has changed. Almost half of 2020 is gone, and most of us are working from home. There is still no clarity when this scenario will change, and till when we might have to remain isolated. As per the new rules, those eligible for this new visa will include retirees, remote workers, parents of children studying in the country, and visitors. In case, you fall in any of this category, and you are interested in applying, you need to get a proof of your necessary medical and travel insurance, and long-term stay plans.

However, if you are planning or wishing to get employed at an establishment in Mauritius, will not be eligible for the visa. This visa will, however, be available only for those whose business is located outside of the island, for which one will have to produce supporting documents showing purpose of visit and details of accommodation.

Mauritius is a popular tourist destination, and is known for its rich wildlife, luxury resorts, and world-class water adventure activities. Anyone planning to enter the island will have to agree to a mandatory 14-day quarantine period, which will be in place till November 30. Further, travellers will also have to submit a negative PCR test that has been taken no longer than seven days before arrival and will have to undergo tests on the day of arrival, i.e., on the seventh day, and day 14 following arrival.
