Dubai makes RT-PCR test report mandatory 48 hours before departure

Dubai has now set new rules for travellers, including the need for an RT-PCR report that must be done within 48 hours before departure. Up until now travellers could get the test done 72 hours before departure, but that has now changed. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has reduced the time frame for the test by 24 hours.

The 48-hour rule is going to be implemented from April 22 onwards.

Air India Express also updated Indian travellers on the same. The update mentioned, “Effective April 22, 2021, all passengers travelling from India to Dubai Airport must hold a valid COVID-19 test certificate that is issued within 48 hours from the time of collecting the samples and also ensure the time of the sample collection (date and time) and time of reporting result (date and time) are accurate.”

All airlines operating under air bubble agreements with Dubai, have received this information on April 18 by the DCAA. The DCAA has directed all inbound flights from India about the same, asking each passenger to hold a valid COVID-19 test report. The date of test, time, and result date, and time must be mentioned in the report.

Passengers have also been told that such test reports must be presented in its original form, which means a printed version of it. The report must be from a government approved lab in India. Additionally, passengers travelling to Dubai should also download the COVID-19 Dubai Smart App, and generate a QR code before entering the country.
