European Union ready to allow vaccinated tourists from America to visit this summer

European Union has decided to allow completely vaccinated tourists from America to visit over the summer. The news was announced by the head of the bloc’s executive body in an interview with
The New York Times on Sunday. It has almost been a year since most of the countries across the globe shut down nonessential travels to put a cap on the spread of the COVID-19.

The US and the European Union are now planning on how to make vaccine certificates acceptable as proof of immunity.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said, “The Americans, as far as I can see, use European Medicines Agency-approved vaccines. This will enable free movement and the travel to the European Union.”

She further added, “Because one thing is clear: All 27 member states will accept, unconditionally, all those who are vaccinated with vaccines that are approved by E.M.A.”

Though the timeline for the same is not yet decided, it seems like the current travel restrictions will change soon on the basis of vaccination certificates.

The EU has now started the process of checking its own citizens with “digital green certificates.” It will tell the following:

1) Whether the traveller has been vaccinated

2) Have they recovered from the disease in recent months

3) Have tested negative for COVID-19 in the past few days.
