Goa extends COVID curfew till May 31

As per the latest reports, the Goa state government has extended the ongoing curfew in the state till May 31. This move comes in the wake of widespread Coronavirus cases across the country.

Reportedly, the first curfew which was enforced in the state on May 9, has now been extended for the second time, i.e., from May 23 to till the month end. It is expected that by enforcing such restrictions, the spread of Coronavirus can be limited. Regarding the latest curfew announcement, officials stated that all existing restrictions will also continue to remain in place, and that only essential services will remain operational here.

Further, as per the Goa administration, only essential services will be allowed during the curfew hours; however, they will also get specific allotted hours, to ensure there is no increased public movement.

Goa extends COVID curfew till May 31

As per the rules, all liquor and grocery stores in the state will be permitted to operate only from 7 AM to 1 PM. However, medical stores, pharmacies, and restaurants can operate from 7 AM to 7 PM. Apart from these, all other services will not be allowed to operate during these curfew hours.

The Goa Chief Minister also announced creation of a special task force to deal with a possible third wave of the pandemic.
