Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda Arts Festival goes online this year. Know the dates!

The much-awaited annual Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai will go virtual this year due to the ongoing pandemic. The cultural carnival, which is attended by artsy people, art patrons and general public having an interest and flair for arts is one of the most important festivals in India. The festival has been scheduled from February 6 to February 14, 2021, and a host of exciting events have been lined up for this year regardless of the fact that it will be held online.

The festival will be organised by the non-profit organisation Kala Ghoda Association (KGA) and hosted on Insider. The fest schedule includes demonstrations, workshops and discussions about dance and music. Visitors will get a visual treat in the form of visual arts, music, dance, literature, theatre and book launches. The festival will be a platform for several events, depicting the artistic heritage of Mumbai.

All in all, the Kala Ghoda Festival 2021 will have about 70 programmes. For artisans and handicraft lovers, the stalls will display their wares online from February 6. Interested buyers can shop on the official website.

The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival started for the first time in the year 1999. It is usually hosted in and around the Kala Ghoda district in Fort, Mumbai.

The name Kala Ghoda translates into Black Horse, referring to the black stone statue of King Edward VII (the then Prince of Wales) riding a horse that was placed in this area of Mumbai. However, the statue was removed from the site in 1965 sent to the Byculla Zoo.
