Planning a train trip? Railway Ministry urges to follow state-wise guidelines

The Ministry of Railways recently issued a statement urging travellers to be mindful of the health advisory guidelines that have been issued by different states. This has come as COVID cases surging in India.

As per the tweet, the Ministry stated that in the wake of COVID, passengers are requested to go through the health advisory guidelines issued by different states before the commencement of their journey to these states.

Reportedly, some states have already put into place the requirement of RT-PCR test within 72-96 hours of train arrival. Thus, it is requested that passengers check the following before planning a trip via train, such as checking the specific guidelines laid out by the said states, and ensure if RT-PCR tests are required before travelling.

Reportedly, while the Rajasthan state government made COVID-negative reports essential for those coming from Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, Udaipur made negative reports mandatory for those coming from six states, namely Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. Likewise, several other states have also made RT-PCR tests mandatory for travellers.

Meanwhile, apart from the statewise health guidelines, the Railway Ministry further informed that authorities won’t be permitting any passenger on the trains without the face masks. Further, passengers will be required to follow proper social distancing and sanitisation protocols. Also, Indian Railways is all set to launch its
Zero-based Time Table, which will be cutting down the average travel time of long-distance trains between 30 min and 6 hours.
