Planning to visit Italy? Fill an online questionnaire to check if you can

If you have been planning to visit Italy, you will now have to fill in a self-declaration form that will determine if and how you can enter the country. As per Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation, Italy has introduced a questionnaire in a move to simplify navigating through travel restrictions.

Reportedly, foreign visitors and Italian nationals returning to Italy can fill the said form and answer questions to facilitate their travel. The form has been prepared for all those planning to travel to and from the country, which aims to provide users with general information about current rules in the country regarding COVID-19. The questionnaire will be anonymous, which will, however, not guarantee your entry into the country, and will remain subjected to the assessment of Italian border officers.

The interactive questionnaire also informs visitors if they actually need a reason to visit the country, what restrictions are there in place, and if pre-arrival testing would be required. The questionnaire also asks the potential visitors specific questions, like which country they plan to enter Italy from, if they are a EU citizen or from a Schengen Country, where they have been for the previous 14 days before their trip, and if they are a legal resident in Italy.

Before filling up the questionnaire, it would be advisable for people to check the restrictions that would be applicable to them, as Italy expands its list of high-risk countries from which travellers must undergo tests for COVID-19. Further, those visiting the country will need to show that they have taken a test prior to 72 hours of their journey, or will have to undergo a test within 48 hours of arrival.
