Rail companies collaborate on marketing effort

Avanti Destinations and a group of European rail operators
on Wednesday launched an e-brochure designed to help travel agents better
understand the advantages of rail travel for their FIT clients. 

Titled “The Best Way to Explore Europe,”
the brochure explains the differences between rail passes and point-to-point tickets,
the different classes of service, the difference between high-speed trains
traveling at almost 200 mph and more leisurely scenic trains gliding through
mountains and gorges, and the latest developments in each rail system. There is
also information about special services, such as wheelchair assistance and onboard

The brochure features 26 customizable, multi-destination
Avanti itineraries linked by rail throughout Europe, 12 of which are new for

“Rail is the ‘secret
sauce’ that makes it easy to connect the dots of multiple destinations in
Europe,” said Avanti executive chairman Paul Barry. “Rail is used in
more than 80% of the customized FIT itineraries that Avanti crafts for travel
agents’ clients going to Europe. And it is ideal for custom group travel,
whether the group is small or large.”

The brochure was developed in partnership with Rail Europe
and several rail lines, inclusing Trenitalia, TGV and Thalys.
