American Airlines will start offering COVID-19 tests at home to domestic fliers travelling to select territories and states in the United States.

Reportedly, the airline will be extending its optional at-home COVID-19 test service to 14 domestic destinations. Initially, the service was rolled out to passengers flying to Hawaii, and international passengers travelling to St Lucia, Belize, and Grenada.

Now, it is rolling out its latest at-home COVID-19 testing kit to passengers who are flying to US destinations, where a COVID negative test result is a must. It is a move to shorten or skip the mandatory quarantine rule. These places include Chicago, Alaska, New Hampshire, Washington DC, Maryland, Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Puerto Rico.

Under this service, passengers will get a PCR testing kit delivered to their home address. A medical professional will see the test via an online video link, while talking to the person through the steps. Once the procedure is completed, the passenger can send the sample at the FDA-approved
LetsGetChecked lab to be processed. The results will be delivered within 48 hours to the person’s phone. The test will cost you $129, along with the flight ticket price. The said at-home test service will provide a passenger the convenience of undertaking the test at home, rather than undergoing the same at the airport.

Referring to this, an official from the airlines stated that their initial pre-flight testing program has performed remarkably well, including terrific customer feedback about the ease and availability of testing options. The next phase will be a step forward in American’s relentless pursuit of reopening international travel and driving industry recovery while delivering a safe and positive travel experience, he added.
