You will soon be able to visit Princess Diana's former apartment!

Princess Diana’s former apartment is all set to get a special recognition, after which visiting this spot will be possible.

As per the reports, English Heritage, a charitable organization that looks after historic monuments, buildings, and sites, recently announced that it will soon be adding one of its famed blue plaques to the one-time home of Princess Diana.

Reportedly, prior to becoming a royal, the then Diana Spencer shared a flat with her friends at Coleherne Court, and it was the last place she lived as a commoner.

Referring to this, Anna Eavis, English Heritage’s curatorial Director said that they are expecting that their plaque to Diana will be very popular. The Director added that she was an inspiration and cultural icon to many, and raised awareness for issues, including homelessness and landmines, and helping to destigmatize illnesses, such as leprosy, HIV, and depression. The official further added that it would be erecting a plaque to commemorate Princess Diana’s work and influence.

This new development was shared by Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother, on social media. He tweeted, “How very lovely that this blue plaque will be going up outside Coleherne Court – thank you, @EnglishHeritage, for commemorating such a very happy place for Diana in this way.”

The plaque, apart from being meaningful, for royal fans, also forms a part of English Heritages’ campaign to honor more women.

Diana, Jean Muir, Ellen Craft, Normanton, Caroline Norton, and Kathleen Lonsdale will also be honored as part of English Heritage’s ‘plaques for women’ campaign that aims to address the gender imbalance in existing plaques.

As per the records, only 14 per cent honour women, whereas more than 900 plaques are in place around the United Kingdom.
